this is just gay. most of the tags in those paintings are taken from “graffiti writing“. this “jamba assa” tag is taken from my own copy of the book. oil paint plus photoshop? come on! do your own tags!

  1. The point of these paintings is not to create new graffiti. I use real world graffiti to set a mood in my work. I have no interest in learning to write graffiti.

Oh and yes i lay my painting out in photoshop before i begin- the secret is out!!!

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    you’re a fucking biter
you must ask to the tagger the permission to steal tags
tou must also ask to the author of the book
i couldn’t care less about your point of view
    you must ask before stealing
don’t make this thing anymore please

Kevin, keep doing what you do, good stuff!

I think the right of ownership of graffiti is questionable when its usually found on the side of a rusty train or a shitty overpass. Not many people give a crap about graffiti until it’s used in something more meaningful like these paintings. Not to mention that you’re clearly not an artist if you’ve never borrowed inspiration from another creative. Why don’t you leave the art to artists and just keep buying coffee table books from the B&N sales rack.

The point is…this guy is not cool enough to be painting his own things…copying from other Artists makes you a very good copycat…but sorry, that’s not being original!

  8. TheMadster says:

and for the record Bad D…he didn’t borrow inspiration…he ctrl C ctrl V it!

  9. giorgio says:

Kevin is stupid because he stole tags? So a dj is stupid too if he stole and remix samples? I don’t think so.

  10. TheMadster says:

…none said stupid…just a copycat…but that doesn’t make him the artist he is pretend to be, just a fake…

  11. TheMadster says:

without “is” and add an s…

I’ll split this case right down the middle.

    1. Copying tags is not biting or copyright, since he isn’t copying the style, he is incorporating those ideas into his work. Is banksy a copy cat cause he uses a mona lisa outline? Half of the street artists out there take something from someone else and make subtle changes.

    2. WITH THAT BEING SAID, nearly all of the artists that do that ACTUALLY CREATE the sketch/idea that they are going to be referencing/using. Jumping on photoshop and just cutting and pasting isn’t entirely wrong, but you should leave a credit to the artist you stole from, or at least tell the truth, in the fact that these are not simply just oil canvas’s, but digitally altered pictures/photography.

Keven this is some great work, but dont act like a total prune when you know you got caught out. You shouldn’t try to pass these off as original or not give mention to the artists used.
