Per chiunque abbia passeggiato per le strade di Bologna, Blu non ha bisogno di presentazioni. É quasi ovunque, ed i suoi pezzi si fanno notare – non solo dai writer.

Sei bravissimo a disegnare, potresti fare l’artista da salotto, perchè fai così tanto bombing?
L’artista da salotto è un mestiere come un altro ma ci sono lavori che mi attraggono di più per adesso faccio tanto bombing perchè mi piace , perchè voglio comunicare con la gente, per strada e mi piace vedere le reazioni di chi osserva i miei disegni.

You’re really good at drawing, you could have been a traditional artist, why do you bomb that much?
Lounge artist is a job like an other, but other works looks like more attractive to me. By now I bomb a lot because I like it, because I want to communicate to the people, in the street and I want to see the reaction of the ones who observe my works.

Pensi che darai l’assalto al mercato dell’arte prima o poi? o gi� adesso?
ogni tanto faccio delle piccole esposizioni, ancora non ho mai pensato a fare degli “oggetti d’ arte” che fossero vendibili ho sempre preferito rimanere sul muro o su grandi superfici difficilmente vendibili nel mercato dell’arte.
però ci scappa qualche lavoro su commissione e questo fa bene alle finanze .
Il 16 dicembre farò un’ esposizione di disegni a torino insieme ai soci ericailcane e run.

Are you gonna storm the art market first or later? Or right now?
Sometimes I hold some little show, yet I never thought about doing “art works” that could be sold, I always preferred doing walls or big surfaces, hard to sell in the art market.
However I often realize some work made to order and that’s good for my finance.
On 16 December I’ll run a show with some drawings in Turin with my pals ericailcane and run.

Creare street art (un adesivo, uno stencil, un puppet in freehand) è ormai alla portata di tutti. quali sono i parametri per distinguere la merda dal cioccolato?
Ciò che distingue uno bravo da uno mediocre non è tanto la tecnica o lo strumento usato, un occhio allenato riesce subito a distinguere chi ha le IDEE da chi copia solamente uno STILE.
Quelli bravi si contano sulla punta delle dita di un falegname cieco.
Sicuramente la tecnologia a basso costo ha dato la possiblit� di esprimersi a moltissima gente .
Così molti si fanno lo sticker, lo attaccano , lo fotografano e lo pubblicano in internet , e ripetendo
questo esercizio ogni giorno possiedono un archivio illimitato di foto in rete che proclamano la loro fama all’ interno della scena “viruale” della street art.
In effetti questa storia della street art è in gran parte una montatura . Forse è meglio chiamarla fotolog-art , visto che viene vista principalmente tramite i siti .
Siamo un po’ tutti dei pugnettari , quante opere avete visto dal vivo di tutte quelle pubblicate su internet?
In effetti visti dal monitor certi sticker sembrano delle opere d’ arte, poi magari se le vedi per strada non li noti neanche.
Quindi perchè chiamarla street art ?

Creating street art (a sticker, a stencil, a vector carachter) by now is possible for almost everyone, which parameters do you suggest, in order to separate the shit from the chocolate?
What tells a good one from a whack one isn’t the skill or the tool he uses, a trained eye can easily recognize who got IDEAS from who’s only biting a STYLE.
You can count the good ones on the fingers of a blind carpenter.
Surely, low cost technology gives everyone the possibility of expressing themselves. So, many do their own sticker, they paste it, they take a flick and publish it on the internet, and repeating this exercise every day they own an unlimited archive of photos on the web, claiming their fame in this “virtual” street art scene.
We’re all a little bit wankers, how many artworks have you seen of the many published on the internet? In fact, seen from the screen some sticker may beworks of art, but if you see’em in the street you won’t even notice’em.
So, why you call it street art?

Qual’è il fine ultimo dei tuoi lavori per strada?
street fame? uno speciale su donna moderna? l’espressione di un idea politica?
non ho uno scopo ultimo e nessun progetto segreto da portare a termine. Più “street-fame” potremmo chiamarla “internet-fame”,
La fama in generale non mi interessa semmai mi interessa non morire di “fame” , quindi fare qualche soldino .
uno speciale su donna moderna può servire se devi vendere qualcosa ma al momento non ho niente da vendere, però devo pensare a tirare su qualche soldo altrimenti vado a lavorare in fabbrica o “a fabrica” che tanto è la stessa cosa.
Riguardo all’ espressione di una qualche idea politica, credo che sia una cosa che avviene naturalmente nel momento in cui dipingi un muro, Il fatto stesso di dipingerlo è gia l’ espressione di una tua idea.
Da non confondere l’ idea politica con le ideologie preconfezionata, non mi interessa fare propaganda per nessun partito, non disegno falci e martello ne celtiche e non ho alcuna fiducia verso i politici fantoccio che governano il paese.
Ogni disegno che faccio esprime un mio pensiero. Per questo capita che i miei disegni tocchino una qualche tematica “sociale” visto che spesso mi capita di pensare alla nostra folle societ� .

What’s the ultimate scope of your street works?
Street fame? A special on Cosmopolitan? The expression of a political thought?
I haven’t got an ultimate scope nor a secret plan to accomplish. More than “street fame” we could call it “internet fame”. As a general fact, I’m not interested in getting fame, I’m more interested in not dying by “fame” (Italian word for staving), that is making some money.
A special on Cosmopolitan ould be useful if you’re selling something, but– at the moment – I got nothing to sell, but I must think about earning some cash, else I might have to work in a factory, or in fabrica, that is the same. [fabrica is a Benetton owned design company].
Regarding the expression of a political thought,, I think that’s something that naturally happens whenever you paint a wall, the fact itself that you’re painting it is the expression of a thought.
Not to confuse a political thought with a pre-cooked ideology, I’m not interested in doing propaganda for a political party, I’m not drawing scythes and hammers, nor Celtics crosses and I don’t trust the puppet politicians that run our country.
Every drawing that I paint expresses a thought. So, it happens that my characters point at social subjects, cause very often I’m thinking about our crazy society.

Secondo te, il writing ha un significato “politico”, in senso lato?
Ogni azione che facciamo ha un significato politico perchè influisce nella societ� in cui viviamo, quindi anche fare un graffito ha un significato politico.
Per quanto il writing venga considerato un circuito chiuso , comprensibile solo a chi ci sta dentro, in realt� rappresenta un atto comunicativo molto forte, perchè vengono dipinti luoghi pubblici (treni, muri ecc.) e i pezzi vengono visti da moltissime persone, che magari non capiscono cosa c’è scritto ma capiscono benissimo i colori, le forme e il luogo e si fanno una loro idea su quello che vedono.
tante volte ho visto bambini entusiasti dei treni dipinti con delle mamme incazzate e schifite dallo “scempio di un bene pubblico”.
Sono contento quando vedo qualche writer che cerca di comunicare con la gente comune oltre che con noi “amici writer” .

Do you think graffiti writing has a political meaning, in a wide sense?
Every action that we perform has a political meaning, because it has an effect on the society we live in, so painting a graffiti too has a political meaning.
Even if graffiti writing has been referred as a close circle, understandable only to the insiders, really it is a very strong communicative act, because it’s public spaces that have been painted (trains, walls, and so on) and many people see the pieces, maybe they don’t even understand what’s written, but they can understand well the colors, the shapes and the palce, and they can have a thought themselves on what they see.
Many times I’ve seen babies really happy for the painted trains, while the mums were angry and disgusted by the “devastation of a public good”.
I’m happy when I see writers trying to communicate with the people, other than with us “writer friends”.
