Florence flicks

Here’s some new flicks from Florance (sottopasso delle cure), thanks to Giacomo, a friend of us. In these days, the city council decided to clean the few pieces around, joining the large number of Italian cities that’s actually buffing.

amo firenze

The campaign, named “Amiamo Firenze”, tries to increase the security perception level by removing abandoned cars, putting citylights in gardens and parks and finally buffing graffiti and stickers (???). Obviously, we’re sure that it’s all bullshit.
Security – if there’s a need for security – has social causes. To make the people feel safe hardly solves the actual problems.
This is our reply to the city campaign: the graffiti showed are situated in a city tunnel, would you feel safer if the tunnel were grey?

(ps: I don’t have the names of the authors of the carachters here. if anyone of you can help, or want to send some more flicks, feel free to do so)

(in the images you can see some cool puppets, but notice the “clark” throwup in the second photo above, and the nice silver bombing here below)

Graffiti Videos and Mixed Downloads

video the graffiti

Sick of looking for videos on soulseek? Tired of trading hard-to-find vandalism movies? Bored of spending cash on graffiti-dvd instead of buying paint?
On [Graffiti Download](http://graffitidownloads.50webs.com/) you can find fresh and not-so-fresh full videos, available for download via megaupload or other sharing services.
This is the shit!

And do you think that’s all? No no no.
You can download at the bottom of the page two all-time classics in PDF format, Spraycan Art and Subway Art (from Cooper&Chalfant, published by Thames and Huston in 1989, you probably know that it’s the Holy Fucking Bible), both highly reccomanded.

Graffiti fonts? Handselecta!

mene one handstyle mexicali font regular

There’s plenty of graffity fonts out there: we see them on the flyers, on the posters, on website and everywhere.
They suck, almost always. At least till now.
[Christian Acker](http://www.adnauseum.net/) started to really love graffity handstyle when he was obliged to buff a ton of tags, after being busted in NYC in 2000 – their website say. So he decide to start his own graffiti font foundry, focused on the-graffiti-style-of-the letters.
The idea of dividing the styles on a geographical basis is great, and even the results are not beautiful as I expected, I fully support the concept (the only one I really really like it’s the Mene One, above).
They have 5 fonts available by now, each one designed by a different writer (Joker, Mene One, Mesh One, Mesk and Sabe). I’m looking forward to see the Giant Cholo Style finished, and I’ve some expectations for the Espo and the SP one too. Let’s see what happens!
[Check the Website: Handselecta](http://www.handselecta.com)

And if fonts are not your thing, there’s plenty of handstyles to check. That’s worth it.

Objects book

objects russian book street art

It happens that we are in contact with the russian guys of the [Objects Book](http://objectsbook.ru), the book about street art in Russia and CIS.
It happens that it’s hard to find in Italy, and so, here’s the first fatbombers-book-review ever. We can read, surprise! (ok, actually, that’s only a pictures book. I start easy).
The pubblication is fresh and professional, as the photos that you see here. It’s an A5 paperback magazine, 64 pages full color, focused mainly on street art. Layout is simple but effective. No frills, really cool: it reminds me that the russian constructivist where the first minimalists. The content is pretty cool, with some mixed artists and a lot of fresh stuff, many surprises. There’s some bad surprises too, the only train page is pure shit and there’s a self-celebrative page with 16 time the same sticker, photographed from the same point of view, in different locations. And the two book reviews in there are obsolete.
Anyway, the overall impression is really positive, as there’s a huge scene in Russia – and growing – and the other russian magazines I read totally suck, compared to this (but even in absolute terms).

It’s on sale (only in russia and CIS I think) for 190 rubli, that’s around 5.50 euros. Definitely worth it.

Then, it happens that I found a digital camera in my easter egg, and my hands are firm and solid after years of bashing the Bishop, waxing the carrot, giving an handshake to russel the love mussel in front of the internet pron, or however you say it in your language.
So, I decided, I’ve all the requisites to bless you with these nice flicks of the book, that I took personally. They’re really different from the “institutional” ones. that’s life. (more…)

Blu and more Blu

blu + ericailcane bologna
Blu and EricaIlCane, Bologna 2005.

Yes, maybe the quality of the photo in the last post (Swim Blu Swim) is low. And I didn’t write about the exhibition. There’s a reason for everything.
First, that’s the best result I was able to achieve in the dark swimming pool. Second, as a photographer I suck.
I didn’t comment the exhibition: the photos always speak for themeselves. Then, if you feel that something is missing and you have better shots, send it in and I will do my best to publish them – if they fit with my selection criteria.

Now, I’d like to share with you this fresh photos of some of the latest Blu’s works, the two above are realized together with EricaIlCane. The carachters of Blu can be really cute in the inside, but outside they really rock: the one below is made just after the show.
(Thanks Blu for the pics).

Here’s some fresh photos from the swimming pool exhibition, with [blu](http://www.blublu.org), [bo130](http://www.bo130.org) and [microbo](http://www.microbo.org). the location was cool but difficult, and I still think that Blu’s work fits best on the outside, or at least in a bigger size. anyway, it was a nice show. it seems that this season just started, and we’ll have more shows later on.
For the moment, big up to Blu for painting so well and to the others too.

*(yes, I know, I didn’t rotate every photo but I’m lazy and I just dont’ care).*
